I bought the parts to build the Gen 2 V3 over three years ago. After soldering the non-static-sensitive parts I stalled when a friend criticized my beginner soldering job. Later examination by a less OCD acquaintance indicated that the solder job was acceptable, but I was busy with other projects by then. Then the new IMU discussion happened. I believe I understand what's needed to restart my build with the new IMU but I'm wondering if it's worth the effort with V4 in the wings (oops, bad pun!). If V4 is months away I'll just send my parts (including a Teensy 3.6) to the team to support their testing efforts and wait for the V4 build to be available. If it's realistically a year or two (or more!) away then I'll continue with the V3 build. I really want the FlyONSPEED AOA! So I'd appreciate a reasonable guess on the V4 timeline, or just advice to keep building if that's appropriate. -jim

I downloaded the current assembly manual today and noticed that it's file name is "OnSpeed Gen 2 Version 3.1 Assembly Procedure.pdf." it still points to v3.0 circuit boards and the v3.0 Mouser project BOM. What is the difference between version 3.0 vs 3.1? -jim

I just posted the following to VAF. (http://www.vansairforce.com/community/showthread.php?t=180945) I'm usually a lurker here, but I may have something interesting for Europeans. I am building the open-source Fly OnSpeed AOA project (https://www.flyonspeed.org) and I have some parts available, for free, to anyone in Europe (Schengen Area) who is also building the project. I have available, for each builder, until I run out: - 1 circuit board (from pcbway.com) - 4 available - 1 x 2.00 inch length of 1/16 tubing - 24 available - 2 x 2.25 inch length of 3/32 tubing - 3 sets available - 2 x 2.75 inch length of 3/32 tubing - 3 sets available - 3 PEM nuts - 7 sets available I will have additional circuit boards and may have some spares of other parts in the future. If there is interest I will post here when other parts are available. If you are in the Schengen Area (or perhaps outside it) and are building the Fly OnSpeed AOA please PM me your address and I'll figure out how to ship the parts to you. Thanks to av888tor for shipping some of his spare tubing and circuit boards to me! Tip: For the bulk of the project components, mouser.ch had good prices and very fast delivery to me in Switzerland. Check the Mouser web site for your locale. -jim

Hello! I'm new here and this is my first post. I just discovered this project and I'm very interested in the AOA and am looking at what it takes to construct one. I don't have much solder experience, but after looking at some youtube instructional videos, it doesn't look like it will take much practice to be able to do reasonable through-hole soldering. I have a background in software and shouldn't have much trouble with the software part. So I downloaded the hardware assembly instructions and looked through them. Looks very doable, but the title is "OnSpeed Generation 2.0v2 Assembly Procedure." The current version is Gen 2, V3, right? Is the V2 assembly document the same as the V3? Perhaps just an upgraded IC or two? If not, when will the V3 assembly document and BOM be available? I'm not really in a hurry, I'm just curious, and maybe a bit excited, and am interested in starting to acquire the parts. Sadly I'm not a candidate for beta tester. Though I have worked in software test and would love to help, I live kind of far from my RV-4. Like nine time zones. Long story, but I won't be useful to you other than to test the construction and bringup process. This is a very cool project and a big thanks to Vac and all the others who are making this happen! -jim
